I finally found what I love to do! It completely suits me.
My last career I was a Pastry Chef. I specialized in wedding cakes and specialty cakes. I made edible works of art - but they had a shelf life...a short one. Now I am creating art that has a shelf life that lasts a lifetime. I was searching for something meaningful - and fun at the same time. Dogs!! So I took a stab and did my first portrait of my friend's golden retriever named Duncan. You can see him in my gallery. And that was it. Pet portraits took off! I love painting animals...they have no idea how loved they are. Most are done for gifts - and the feedback I get from them makes my heart swell. But pets aren't the only portraits I do. I was asked to paint 2 babies...I was told just pretend they have fur! I try to think of that when doing a human.
My work always has meaning behind it - whether it's your beloved pet who is here or who has passed on, or the home you have sold after living in it for 25 years.
